Perched on his 2012 Indian Chief Vintage is a Proud George "Marty" Hamer ... who was the FIRST customer to order a New 2012 Indian Chief Motorcycle built by Polaris!
Marty (as he prefers to be called) had a life-long desire to own an Indian Motorcycle since riding motor bikes as a young boy. He almost purchased a 2004 Gilroy Indian Motorcycle; if it wasn't for the bankruptcy of Indian Motorcycle Company in Gilroy, California (September 19, 2003).
In February (2011), Marty saw our display of Indian Motorcycles during the Timonium Motorcycle Show at the Maryland State Fair Grounds. These Indian Chief Motorcycles, manufactured by Stellican Limited, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, were built in limited numbers, with a focus on exclusivity, like a fine “luxury” watch.
Once Marty saw those Indians, he made up his mind to have an Indian Motorcycle this time. After carefully inspecting every bike, like an exquisite piece of art work, Marty approached me and said, “I’m not ready right now; but as soon as the 2012 models are announced, I want to order one.” Since that day in Maryland, Marty and I have kept in touch discussing variations of the Indian Chief.
The announcement in April of Polaris acquiring Indian increased Marty's desire to own an American-Built Heritage Motorcycle.
In July of 2011, Marty's dream of purchasing an Indian came to fruition. Marty's wife (Denise) made it a reality. She (a real angel) made the funds available for Marty to order his New 2012 Indian Chief.
Marty ordered his Indian Red, Indian Chief Vintage, July 28, 2012 … prior to Polaris ever building the first Indian. After numerous supplier set-backs, the factory began to build the Indian Chief Motorcycles at their Spirit Lake Facility and began shipping in November 2011.
Today, Marty is a proud owner of # 19, a 2012 Indian Chief Vintage Motorcycle.
