Today, the 2003 Indian Scout motorcycles are built upon proud heritage with three models that combine exhilarating power, precise handling and rock-solid stability with laid-back comfort that riders of all sizes and levels of experience can appreciate. Joining the Scout line is the Scout Springfield that celebrates the birthplace of Indian motorcycles and the spirit of independence that all Indian motorcycles embrace. The Scout Springfield, along with the Scout and Scout Deluxe are based on the same roadworthy platform while offering Indian enthusiasts a wider range of styling options.

We created the distinctive Springfield edition Indian Scout, to celebrate the machines that first put America on two wheels. The Scout Springfield wears the classic large Indian script logo in rich gold, surrounded by double gold pinstriping. This flowing script logo was introduced in 1910. The complete look, with the surrounding gold pinstriping, was first seen on the 1917 Indian Powerplus model.

A key feature of the Indian Scout line is their low, 26.5-inch seat height and contoured seat. The Scout models offer the lowest seat available in the Indian family. The Scout's redesigned pulled back, narrower handlebars make it more comfortable for riders of all sizes. And the Scout's light weight provides an agile feel that riders of all experience levels can appreciate. The 2003 Indian Scout Springfield is offered with a black frame, polished stainless steel belt guard and two monochromatic color schemes.

  • The heart of the Indian Scout Springfield is a powerful 88 cubic-inch (1442cc) S&S Super Stock, 45-degree, V-twin engine. This air-cooled American V-twin with its 3-5/8" bore and 4-1/4" stroke delivers smooth throttle response while producing excellent torque and roll-on performance. Chromed, "shorty" dual exhaust pipes finish the engine package, giving the Scout Springfield distinct, authoritative sound and custom look.
  • The Scout Springfield comes with a precision, constant-mesh, five-speed transmission and final drive via aramid-reinforced belt.
  • A motorcycle designed to be ridden; the Scout Springfield is equipped with disc brakes, front and rear, with billet-aluminum, four-piston calipers. Providing excellent comfort and handling, the Scout Springfield features 41mm hydraulic, dual-damping front forks and nitrogen-charged, hydraulic rear shock absorbers with adjustable preload.
